Now lets get down to the serious work of job hunting
Lets start by focusing on YOU.
The first thing to rememberis :-
“YOU ONLY HAVE ONE CHANCE TO MAKE A FIRST IMPRESSION” |
---|
Please think about that for a moment.…
First approach, your appearance at first contact, your telephone manner when the call comes, arriving on time, quality of your resume, how you look, what your wearing are critical points when making first contact.
You know without effort, preparation and determination your not going to get that sort after position…………
are you?
What about the company you are trying to convince to employee you, do some research on that company, it’s products, find out about it’s history, arm yourself ready for that interview, information is king and there’s plenty of it available on the internet, books and libraries.
Your not into sales! What? You will need to sell your self!!! Got it?
Do not be afraid to approach companies that are not hiring, maybe you have a skill set they want but hadn’t really thought about it or got around to placing that ad. They may have already advertised and had a poor response, you just didn’t see the original ad. Many positions are never publicly posted, employers don’t want to be bombarded with a lot of unqualified candidates that they have to weed through to find the jewels.
It doesn’t matter if you 20 or 50 that resume needs to be up to date, give concrete examples of how your abilities boosted a former employer’s bottom line. Be brief but concise, ask yourself why would XYZ employer want to employee ME. Now answer that question in your resume.
Companies are looking for employees who can improve their bottom line. Finding out what problems a company may have and then positioning yourself as a solution to that problem is a really important way to set yourself apart from a person who comes to the interview and just answers questions. Do the research it doesn’t matter what the job opportunity, research the company.
Finally, if your out of work perhaps for the first time in you adult life or looking for your first job, do not be ashamed of this situation, network yourself, the way you are going to find your next opportunity is through a network of people who know what you can do. Networking isn’t about who you know, it’s about who your friends know.
